NARRATIVE OF THRILLER OPENING SEQUENCE

STORY LINE: The story is about a man who is in his house, watching Tv and is also looking terrified. Then his phone rings and he keeps saying hello but no one answers. Then the next minute he hears his door be, walks to the door but no one's there. Then a minutes later, something strange happens, the bell and the phone rings and also heavy knocks on the door at the same time. The man opens the door and there is a big scream from him. He leaves the door, runs upstairs and locks his self in the room. He see something so terrifying.

MIS EN SCENE:  The movie takes place in a inside and outside a house.

SOUND: The use of a self made track by a student. The  track is more of a piano with softly played strings which brings the mystery. Its also has non-diegetic sounds like the door bell, phone, footsteps and the television sounds. All this sounds make the character more inconvenient.

FONT: The font set would be a bold, block and huge writing. With a deep black background, with the writings in red  to create fair, worries and shock.

Continuity Exercise 2.1

STRENGTHS
We were able to use a range of shot sizes in the video. Tracking, over the shoulder,close-up,extreme close-up and long shots were used in the exercise to show .We learnt three new shot types,match-on-action,shot reverse and 180 degree rule. These brought a certain level of improvement from the last continuity exercise. It gave us a wider range and added to the beauty of the final product.
We had good actors, who are also media students, which made it easier for the shots to be done.As they have an understanding of the subject and now what is needed for the exercise.
The use of the library, made it more realistic as we were able to film with other students there. This adds to the quality of the video. It also shows as a group we've been able to develop.
As a group we've advanced in the area of filming and camera positions and other technical things.

WEAKNESS
We found it difficult to do the match-on-action shot. This is probably, because we were just learning the shot.
Most of our problems came about during the editing,as this is the stage were you either make or mare your project. This stage was hard, because we were learning to use the advanced equipment and edit at the same time. This slowed us down a little, but at the end we were able to work round it.

Analysis of Sin city

The movie starts off with captions of a man on his kneels and a woman on this legs, afterwards lots off buildings are seen and drifts slowly to the name of the movie, meaning the building are used to bring out the name of the movie. then splashes of red come on the title, this signifies blood, which creates fear all plated on a black background. It follows into the characters of the movie, this has a continuous black background with the comic drawing to signify people and the name of the film appears to create a fear and mystery to viewers. It sets out a musical background of a bass piano sound, and that helps create tension to the audience, but also helps build the enigma of the movie.

NARRATIVE OF THRILLER OPENING SEQUENCE

STORY LINE
The movie is about a teenage girl in University. She is your average teenage girl with everyday issues. Her problems get worse when she starts receiving uncomfortable text messages from an unknown number. She starts to feel like she's being watched and is constantly stressed.
One night she's rushing to the train station and as she's standing on the platform-the unthinkable happens.

MIS EN SCENE
The movie takes place in a University setting. Rooms like classrooms, cafeteria, computer labs would be used. The train station-the name of the train station and the tracks would be used in the scene. The sequence is a fade in between two scenes.

SOUND
Using a copy right sound track, created by a student. The track is mainly piano and soft deep drums that set the mood and help create the enigma of the movie.
Non-diegetic sounds include foot steeps, creaking of doors opening, heavy breathing, the text message ringtone, sound of water in the shower etc. The non-diegetic sounds would bring that 'uncomfortable feeling' to the audience.

FONTS
I intend to use large and bold red and gray fonts over black background. The red signifies danger, fear and alertness The grey compliments the red, making it stand out more. The grey can signify confusion or disarray.

PACE
The pace of the sound track is medium tempo. The presentation of credits will go with the same pace, showing uniformity.

Analysis of tomorrow never dies opening sequence

The movie opens with a series of numbers and letters in a space. It creates the imagery of a phone directory. The way the numbers and letters move gives the audience and uncomfortable view. The titles cut into a shot of a watch. This has connotations to ‘tomorrow’ in the title. Images of women are seen in silhouette form in most of the shots that follow. These women are in bullets in one of the shots, this can be related to women empowerment. It gives the audience the idea of women in relation to violence, as other weapons are shown in subsequent shots. The music is mainly bass, guitars, drums and a piano played in a slow tempo. This calms the audience, whilst building the enigma of the film. The music is also in sync with most of the body movements of the women. The shots also elaborate on the female anatomy. It shows parts of the female body, as if viewed under some kind of x ray. This added to the special effects of the sequence. Throughout the sequence there is an elaborate use of colour, which connotes different meanings to the shots. Shots done in red could connate danger and those done in grayish blue imply calmer, cooler meanings. This creates a contradicting effect to the sequence.
