DRAFT OF EVALUATION OF LAST CALL

In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms of real media products?
Our opening sequence belongs to the thriller . This is evident due to the choice of cast and movie setting. There was a careful arrangement of the scenes. We aimed to achieve a situation were the audience followed the main actor, this helped to create the enigma of the sequence. The last scene makes the audience think they are the stalker, as he approaches the girl. This works on the audience's mind. The use of an actress was intentional, because it holds more orientation for thriller audiences. A girl would be able to show more emotion to the text message received- "Jenny i can see you". A boy might not see it as that much of a treat and thus the aim of the sequence would not be achieved. The bedroom scene holds many connotations to a teen girl's private life. The stroking of the bed, which symbolises many things in a teen girl's life was done to create a more deeper relationship with the audience, as most of them can relate to it. The shower scene was done in a white bathroom with a white door. The use of 'white' is to create a neutral effect that concentrates on the mind. If this was a professional production, greater emphasis would be made on the use of white i.e a 'pure' white bathroom.

What kind of media institution is likely to distribute your product?
Our product relates very much to real life situations and thus would easily be distributed on the mainstream. The audience can easily relate to the story line and as well feel empathy for the girl being stalked. A good example of an institution would be Fox movies, who have are affiliated with movies like shurrer (2008). If our film were to be published, it is our hope it would be of this professional quality.

Fox movies is a good choice, as its popularity eases the difficulties of advertising our thriller to different peer and social groups. Its solid background allows our movie to be shot to a very high level, were it can be reviewed and re-edited if necessary to achieve optimum definition of the genre.

Who are the target audience in relation to age and social class for your product?
Our product is aimed at late teenagers, because the story line relates to their day to day activities in college, which is the film's setting. Also the age group of the people reflected in the movie is a directive to the audience. The classroom scene is a good example from the film, were the main actress is being greeted by her friend. In relation to class, the film drifts more to the working class. The conventions represented do not depict high status.Reasons being that the college used is a public one. We targeted the working class, because they are relatively the largest in the UK and if the film were to be distributed, this would be highly advantageous.

TECHNOLOGICAL DIFFICULTIES FACED
Having not studied media in the past, many issues posed difficult to our team. At first we had the problem of familiarising ourselves with the mac books given to us. Using the final cut application required a lot of work. We learnt how to add files onto the board and cut scenes with the use of fades. Quick time conversions formatted our video files to high broad band quality, which can be upload onto the internet. The garage band application was used to obtain the sound track for the film. At first we tried to manually make the track with piano application and beat maker. This proved difficult and retreated to getting one of the already composed tracks. We used the 'emotional piano' track. We felt this worked with the pace of the film and also helped to pass across that intense emotion the actress was going through. We learned how to operate the filming equipment, camera and tripod stand which did not take much time. In order to ensure security of the boarding house used in the film. The punching in of the security code was done by placing a stopper at the foot of the door and punching in a made up code. During the editing of the film, we did not have a proper understanding of how to cut scenes and also the use of the 'command short cuts'. This we asked our teachers for help with in order to produce a work of the desired quality. Generally no problem was unable to be solved. Although some took longer than others.

IMPROVEMENT SINCE PRELIMINARY TASK
Our planning of scenes has improved. As there is a clear difference in the smoothness of continuity between the scenes. Also our new knowledge on creating music sound tracks, gives our piece more meaning. The use of fades and cuts are more explicit in our final piece than was not as evident in our preliminary task. Our knowledge of using texts and fonts is also an issue to touch, as we were able to use certain font types to help relate our story to the audience. The use of the broken font for the title was deliberately done to further instill the enigma and psycho of the film to our audience. We have been able to compile all the information given to us to create this piece and we believe that a vast quantity has been learned.
